Current Announcements – July 23

Join us for a Hymn Sing & Potluck Supper Friday, July 28, starting at 5:30 pm in the Parish Hall. Come schmooze with other parishioners and have an opportunity to sing your favorite Hymns in the church afterwards. Contact Kathy Uggerholt, Misao Koyama, or Rev Barbara for more information.

Your Search Committee Needs Your Help!  St. John’s Search Committee members and other members of the congregation have been busy working on the text of the Parish Profile which will be used to call our new rector. We need your photos of any aspect of St. John’s parish life to add to the Profile.  Please e-mail them to Celia Bailey-Ochoa at cbochoa1@comcast.net. Prior to publishing, we will ask permission to do so from anyone pictured in the photographs. Now, get scrolling through all those photos on your phones! We thank you for your help with this.

St. John’s Quilters meets weekly on Wednesday afternoons at 2PM in the Parish Hall. All are welcome to join us! Bring your own craft to work on, or we can use your help with a quilt making project. No quilting experience necessary and free training is available

The Shoe Drive is Amazing!  To date, we have collected 1,000 pairs of shoes for our shoe drive, thanks to you!!  Our current shoe drive fundraiser is part of the Funds2Orgs Group. Shoe drive fundraisers help provide inventory to over 4,000 micro-entrepreneurs who sell the shoes to support their families. In turn, they help themselves out of poverty with a hand up, not a handout. There is a monetary benefit to our church as well.  Drop off your donations in either of the two boxes on the left hand side of the front porch of the 161 office building any time. This drive continues through the end of July.   For more information check www.funds2orgs.com.    Helen and Alan Miller

Cape Cod Council of Churches is always looking for items to help families with babies and children through A Baby Center, in Hyannis. Donations of diapers, baby food, back-to-school supplies, personal care products, small toys, books, etc. can be left in the donation basket in the Narthex, or brought to the parish office during business hours. Meanwhile, any financial donationscan be sent to the Cape Cod Council of Churches, 320 Main St, Hyannis MA 02601, or online, capecodcouncilofchurches.org

We have a supply of shrubs for sale! Salmon and pink azaleas, and willow trees. Price is $10.00 each or 3 for $25.00. There is a cautionary note about the willows – they should not be planted near underground water lines, sewer pipes or septic systems. Make your checks payable to St. John’s Church, (marked “shrubs” in the memo line), drop in the weekend plate or mail, and take your shrubs from the walkway between the Church and the Office Building.

If you’d like to help with the Mission of St. John’s, join Rev Barbara, Kathy Uggerholt and Mary Ames on Wed, August 3, at noon to delve into the book Invite Welcome Celebrate.
