DAILY LIVING PRACTICES TO CARE FOR CREATON
During July and August we focus on the importance of fire/sun/energy in our Caring for Creation activities. Simultaneously, the season of Pentecost reminds us that the Spirit blows where it will. The Spirit sustains all that is true, good and beautiful wherever it may be found and by whomever it may be done. Traditional representations of the disciples on Pentecost show them with tongues of flame above their heads indicating their internal change and sense of purpose.
Quotation for your Meditation
“ The world is charged with the grandeur of God. It will flame out, like shining from shook foil. Why do men then now not reck his rod? Generations have trod, have trod; and all is seared with trade; bleared, smeared with toil; and wears man’s smudge and shares man’s smell; the soil is bare now, nor can foot feel, being shod. And for all this, nature is never spent; there lives the deepest freshness deep down things; Oh morning, at the brown brink eastward springs—Because the Holy Ghost over the bent world broods with warm breast and with ah! Bright wings. Gerard Manley Hopkins
Suggestions for Personal Action-Part 1 of 3-Heat Pumps
Looking to save money and the planet while staying warm in winter and comfortable in the summer? Air-Source Heat Pumps are heating and cooling systems that move heat into a home in the winter and draw heat out of the home in the summer. Instead of burning fossil fuels, they operate on the same principle as your refrigerator: using a refrigerant cycle, powered by electricity, to move heat and to keep your home at a comfortable temperature year round. They are much more efficient than electric resistance (electric baseboard) heating and also provide highly efficient air conditioning. The Mass. Clean Energy Center provides you with guidance on air source heat pumps at the following link: (https://goclean.masscec.com/clean-energy-solutions/air-source-heat-pumps/) Part 2 of 3 next week.
