20th Anniversary Celebration Please join us in the Parish Hall Following the 9:30am service on May 18 as we celebrate the 20th Anniversary for Misao Koyama our Music Director. We are holding a “card shower” to celebrate her dedication. Please consider sending or bringing a card to thank her. If you wish, you may include a gift card or money to celebrate her years with us as a key leader in worship.
St. John’s Memorial Day Weekend Yard Sale is happening May 23, 24, and 26, 8am-4pm, and Sunday, May 25 12noon-4pm. Deb Roberts is collecting furniture and other household items for the sale. Take another look to see if there are clean household items you can donate. For more information please contact Deb at 910-695-6100. The church could use your help with pre-sale set-up. We also need volunteers to work the sale. Sign-up sheets are in the Narthex. Thank you!
St. John’s Caring for Creation Committee presents From Forecasting to Climate Action: Tackling Cape Cod’s Climate Challenges with Local Innovations. Meet local meteorologist, climate scientist and communicator Chris Gloninger for an engaging exploration of Cape Cod’s pressing climate challenges. He will share innovative solutions being developed locally to address climate change. Living here we see directly the rising sea levels and coastal erosion to the increasing frequency of extreme weather. Cape Cod finds itself on the frontlines of the climate crisis. Please join us in the Parish Hall Tuesday, May 27th for this informative presentation – free and open to the public. Bring a friend!
St. John’s Summer Breeze Concert Series Great local musicians have been scheduled by our own Glen Carliss. You will remember Glen from the wonderful Stage Door Canteen concert in March. These family-friendly concerts are held every Wednesday during the months of July and August at 6pm. Dust off your lawn chairs and blankets and mark your calendars. Concerts moved into the church in the event of rain. Bring family and friends for evenings of music from some of the best musicians on the Cape. If you would like to offset the cost of entertainment, please place your donation in the offering plate. In the memo line, please write “Concert Series” or drop off a check to the Parish Office. St. John’s is looking for volunteers to help staff each concert. We already have the choir and also the vestry hosting two concerts in July. Thank you and let’s get ready for some fun great music!
Women’s Group Our St. John’s Women’s group is taking the summer off. We will gather again in September.
Invite Welcome Connect Summer Planning meets June 3, 10, and 17 from 5:30-6:30pm in the Parish Hall.
St. John’s is having a “Golf Outing for 4” raffle. Tickets are available now through August 27th.
18 holes for 4 players with carts at White Cliffs Country Club in Plymouth OR
18 holes for 4 players with carts at Squirrel Run Country Club in Plymouth.
Tickets are $10 each or 6 tickets for $50. Raffle tickets are available for purchase at each service, in the Church Office during business hours, and the Thrift Shop. The drawing will be held at the final Summer Breeze Concert on August 27th.
